  • Little Lemons Show Choir: a Bluetooth speaker to use for Show Choir performances, as well as rehearsals with DMS students (2018)
  • Technology Class Transformation: students will experience new tech tools in updated technology classes (2018)
  • “Little Bits” of Excitement through Literature and STEAM: electronic building pieces are used to create items and make literature connections to STEAM; and these little bits can be used in an after-school club (2017)
  • Gallery of African Art Residency: provide for display of actual African art for students to view and touch, funds week long residency to provide instruction and presentations of African drumming and dancing  (2014)
  • Creating an Outdoor Learning Environment: a means to expose children to nature while enhancing their learning experiences by cultivating indigenous, perennial plants that attract both insects and birds. FOSS weather modules will greatly facilitate outdoor learning, including the construction of parachutes, kites and pinwheels to observe how they interact with air. Two open-air learning reference books will be added to the teacher library. (2013)

  • Papermaking and Calligraphy: students combine art, history, and culture to reinforce tactile skills; students receive an introduction to new art materials to produce varied visual effects through instruction in papermaking and calligraphy (2010)
  • Emerging Entrepreneurs (E2) Club: apply academic skills to a real business by designing and running a restaurant. Students experience every aspect of the restaurant business including menu planning; food preparation, cooking, and serving; advertising and marketing; restaurant set-up and decoration; and customer service.   • Hands-on Geography: 4th grade students interact “hands on” with each of the 50 states, learning to map and mold them. Using giant maps and other props, the students participate in a “field trip” to various US regions without leaving their classroom. (2010)
